Jenga App Is Bringing African Construction Projects Into One Digital Workspace

—

The locally developed platform combines AI-generated estimates, remote site monitoring and automated reporting to help construction professionals keep projects on schedule and within budget.

For someone living abroad and planning to build a home in Kenya, the first question is often the most difficult to answer: How much will the project cost?

The answer can depend on the location, size and design of the building, as well as labor costs, material prices and the expected construction timeline. Without reliable local information, an aspiring property owner may struggle to determine whether the project is financially realistic—or where to begin.

Jenga App is seeking to make that first step easier.

The African construction-technology company develops digital tools that help contractors, architects, engineers, project managers and property developers plan and manage construction projects from a single platform.

Its solutions allow users to monitor budgets, document progress, store project information and generate construction reports. Through its AI-powered estimating tool, Jenga AI, users can also obtain preliminary budget and timeline estimates before consulting the professionals who will establish the project’s final specifications and costs.

Answering the First Construction Question

Jenga AI was developed to give prospective property owners and construction professionals an early understanding of what a project may require.

A user provides details about the proposed building, including its location. The platform then uses that information to produce an estimated budget and construction timeline based on the area where the project will be developed.

The location component is important because construction costs and conditions can vary considerably between cities and countries. An estimate for a building in Nairobi may not reflect the costs of constructing a similar property in another part of Kenya—or in Zambia or South Africa.

Jenga AI currently supports project estimates in those three countries.

The resulting report is intended to serve as a planning tool rather than a replacement for professional advice. After receiving the preliminary estimate, the property owner can approach quantity surveyors, architects, engineers and other qualified consultants for detailed designs, site assessments and exact figures.

For members of the African diaspora, this could make the early stages of a construction project more manageable. Instead of beginning with little more than an idea, users can approach professionals with a clearer understanding of the potential budget and timeline.

Two Solutions for Different Stages of a Project

Jenga’s technology is divided into two connected solutions.

The first is Jenga AI, which produces preliminary cost and timeline reports. This can help consultants, construction companies, architects and project managers prepare early-stage assessments for proposed developments.

The second is the Jenga App project-management platform, which supports projects after construction has begun.

The app connects the professionals working at a construction site with developers or property owners who may be elsewhere. Site teams can upload progress information, documents and photographs, while authorized clients and consultants can review updates through the platform.

This connection is particularly valuable when a property owner is abroad or when an architect or engineer is responsible for several projects and cannot visit every site frequently.

By bringing information into one dashboard, Jenga App seeks to reduce the communication gaps that often develop between the construction site, consultants and project owners.

Tracking Budgets Before Costs Get Out of Control

A construction budget can change quickly. Material price increases, design changes, delays and unplanned work can gradually push a project beyond its original estimate.

Jenga App allows project expenses to be recorded and compared with the initial budget. This gives developers and contractors an ongoing view of the project’s financial position.

Instead of waiting until the end of a construction phase to discover that costs have exceeded expectations, users can monitor whether spending is above or below budget as work progresses.

The platform also compares actual progress with the original project timeline. This can help teams identify whether work is on schedule or beginning to fall behind.

For developers and investors, those comparisons can provide a clearer understanding of project performance and potential return on investment. If the dashboard shows rising expenses or delays, the project team can investigate the cause and take corrective action before the issue becomes more difficult to manage.

The value lies in seeing the warning signs early.

Giving Architects and Engineers a View From Afar

Architects and engineers are among Jenga App’s primary users.

These professionals often divide their time among several active sites, client meetings and design responsibilities. They may be unable to visit a particular construction site for days or even weeks.

Jenga App gives them a way to review progress remotely.

When consultants log in, they can view dashboard reports, examine uploaded site photographs and assess the latest project information. The platform does not replace the need for physical inspections, but it can help professionals remain informed between visits.

It also automates part of the reporting process. Rather than gathering updates from separate messages, spreadsheets, photographs and paper documents, users can generate progress reports from information stored on the platform.

This can reduce the administrative time required to prepare client updates and allow consultants to focus more attention on design, supervision and decision-making.

Built Around African Construction Needs

Jenga App’s local focus is central to its identity and market positioning.

“This is our strongest selling point,” Kelvin Wachira said. “There are a lot of solutions, but they’re based in the U.S. or elsewhere. Unfortunately, most of them will never accommodate our needs locally.”

Construction-management platforms developed for other markets may be designed around different building practices, cost structures, regulations and working environments. Jenga App is being developed specifically with African construction projects in mind, beginning with Kenya and extending into Zambia and South Africa.

“Jenga App is a local solution, localized for the unique needs of the African continent, especially Kenya,” Wachira said. “This is our cradle.”

That localization influences both the estimates produced by Jenga AI and the project-management tools available to construction teams.

For Jenga, building locally is not simply a matter of geography. It means developing software around how projects are actually planned, funded, documented and delivered within African markets.

Documents, Photographs and Site Information in One Place

Construction projects produce a significant amount of information. Quotations, invoices, certificates, photographs and progress reports may pass between contractors, consultants, developers and property owners.

When those records are spread across email, messaging apps and paper files, important information can be difficult to locate.

Jenga App allows project teams to upload and share documents through one workspace. Users can store certificates and invoices, review quotations and share photographs from the construction site.

“First, Jenga App helps you get your quotations instantly,” Wachira said.

The company plans to continue expanding this function as the platform develops.

Centralizing project records can also create a clearer history of decisions and expenditures. If a disagreement or unexpected cost arises, team members can refer to the information recorded during the project instead of relying entirely on memory or fragmented conversations.

Monitoring Conditions That Can Affect Progress

Not every construction delay originates within the project team. Weather conditions can interrupt work, affect material deliveries and make certain site activities unsafe or impractical.

Jenga App incorporates weather monitoring for the area where a project is located. This gives users additional context when reviewing site progress and planning upcoming work.

Combined with budget monitoring, progress updates and document management, the feature helps create a broader view of what is happening on the ground.

The aim is not to eliminate every construction risk. No software can prevent storms, supply shortages or unexpected site conditions. The objective is to give project teams better information so they can recognize problems earlier and respond more effectively.

Building Greater Confidence Across Distance

Jenga App addresses one of the most persistent challenges in construction: maintaining visibility when the people financing, designing and building a project are not always in the same place.

For a property owner abroad, the platform can provide a window into activity on the site. For a contractor, it creates a structured way to document work and communicate with clients. For architects and engineers, it offers access to project updates between physical inspections. For developers and investors, it supports closer monitoring of budgets and timelines.

Its larger promise is greater accountability across the construction process.

By combining preliminary AI estimates with active project monitoring, Jenga is building a system that follows a development from the earliest planning question—“How much could this cost?”—through the realities of construction.

Professionals, developers and potential partners interested in the platform can visit Jengapp.com to learn more or request a demonstration.
