Socialite Amber Ray has humorously responded on social media to comments her husband, Kennedy Rapudo, made eight months ago.
Rapudo had earlier gone viral after stating in an interview that his wife doesn’t contribute to household purchases, pointedly saying she “does not even buy salt.”
Amber Ray addressed the remark through a video she shared on Instagram, captioning it with a cheeky response. Rapudo’s comments, made during his appearance on Dr. Ofweneke’s Lessons at 30 podcast, sparked widespread discussion online.
During the interview, Rapudo was asked about the strength of his relationship. He expressed confidence, saying he was not anxious about losing his wife. While admitting that it would hurt because he loves her, he emphasized it would not be “the end of the world.”
He went on to describe his major financial responsibilities at home, stressing that he takes care of all expenses — including rent, school fees, and monthly shopping.
Rapudo also mentioned that the cost of education for their four children, including Africana, is quite high since they all attend schools following the British curriculum.
He clarified that Amber Ray’s not buying basic items like salt has nothing to do with her financial ability, but rather with his belief that providing for the family is his role.
“It is my duty to pay for those bills,” he said.
Rapudo further referenced Amber Ray’s past comments about being “allergic to broke men,” questioning why he would choose to be the first “broke man she’s keeping.”
Months after the clip resurfaced, Amber Ray finally addressed it, sharing a playful video on Instagram with a caption aimed at Rapudo’s specific claim about salt:
“Ukiniangalia hata huwezi sema hata chumvi siwezi nunua,” she wrote, meaning, “When you look at me, you can’t even say I can’t afford to buy salt.”
Many online users interpreted Rapudo’s earlier “does not even buy salt” comment as figurative rather than literal.
